DAMMAM: The Daesh terrorist group has claimed responsibility for an armed attack that occurred near Saihat last week, killing five bystanders, including one woman, and wounding nine others.
According to the Interior Ministry, the murdered woman was identified as Buthaina Al-Abbad, a 22-year-old woman in her fifth year at the medical faculty of Dammam University.
Interestingly, Al-Abbad sent out a tweet just one month ago to mourn the martyred pilgrims in the high-profile crane accident, saying: "It is blessed to die on a Friday because this is the most pure day of the week. Blessed are you for what you have earned."
Little did she know that just one month later, she would have an encounter with a terrorist as she crossed the road toward a mosque, which was only four kilomeetrs away from her home, while carrying a baby.
When the bullets began flying around, Al-Abbad fell down on the ground, while her arms surrounded the baby. At this time, she indicated to the paramedics faintly: "Save the baby!"
This act of terrorism severed any hopes of Al-Abbad completing her academic career, or saving the lives of people through her work as a physician. Indeed, she was at the top of her class in her academic studies, and had been working in the field of social services as a volunteer to help her community.
One of the people injured in this bloody attack, Nasser Al-Sayegh, is also suffering from moderate injuries in the left side of his body and his shoulder, and said: "While I was going to the mosque, I heard shooting and saw the panic on the faces of people, and all of a sudden I took a blow from behind, and when I turned I saw an armed terrorist shooting at me."
"In the meantime, the martyr Al-Abbad was passing beside me, carrying a small child . She was walking next to another girl while the terrorist directed fire toward them, killing her and injuring the other girl," the eyewitness said.
He concluded: "There is no doubt that all evidence of compassion and mercy have been stripped out from the hearts of these terrorists, as they targeted innocent citizens in cold-blooded murder."
